Every year, SAMS members purchase approximately 600,000 tons of steel, which corresponds to 16 % of Sweden's total tradeable steel.
Together, the member companies have a turnover of SEK 127 billion and employs approximately 65,000 people.

Networks and material groups
SAMS material groups consist of members who are interested and committed to different types of materials. The material groups contribute to SAMS's activities by holding group discussions approximately five times a year where, under the leadership of a group manager, the status and development in the material supply area are discussed. The groups report their findings at member meetings and to the office.
The following material groups are available within SAMS:
- Rolled products, hot rolled, cold rolled
- Surface coated rolled products, galv, AZ, ZM
- Wire
- Other materials, aluminum, copper, stainless steel
