Report criticizes investment in fossil-free steel in Norrland

On November 15, the first report, ”From brown to green”, from the Scandinavian Policy Institute’s project on the socio-economic effects of producing fossil-free steel in northern Sweden was presented. The report, written by David Sundén, PhD in Economics, examines the investments from LKAB, SSAB, and H2GS in Norrland and their transition to fossil-free production methods. Professor Magnus Henrekson, project manager for the larger research and analysis project ”Swedish Industrial Policy”, comments on the report and emphasizes that this is the largest investment in the history of Swedish industry in relation to GDP. At the same time, he points out that it is worrying how frivolous the leading strata of society view corporate and socio-economic risks.
