Every year, SAMS members purchase approximately 600,000 tons of steel, which corresponds to 16 % of Sweden's total tradeable steel.
Together, the member companies have a turnover of SEK 127 billion and employs approximately 65,000 people.

Extension of steel safeguard
On 25 June, it was announced that the EU would extend the steel safeguard measure for a further two years until June 2026. This decision was taken in accordance with an investigation which showed that the safeguard measure is still necessary to prevent or remedy serious injury to the EU steel industry. German definition of green steel
This standard, developed by the German steel industry association WV Stahl and the country’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate, was launched at the Hannover Messe on April 22. The LESS certification enables the comparison of emissions from traditional blast furnaces and electric arc furnaces during the transition to hydrogen-based production. Lindab first in the world to deliver ventilation ducts in fossil-free steel

Networks and material groups
SAMS material groups consist of members who are interested and committed to different types of materials. The material groups contribute to SAMS's activities by holding group discussions approximately five times a year where, under the leadership of a group manager, the status and development in the material supply area are discussed. The groups report their findings at member meetings and to the office.
